2016 Applicant – Angel Bippus

2016 Apllicant – Robert A. Klingler Co., L.P.A. Ohio Problem-Solving Scholarship

Angel Bippus – Hamilton, Ohio

Why would I change the world? Well everyone dreams, hopes, and prays for a perfect world. A perfect world where there is no violence or war. A place where everyone is loved and equal. As so many people want a perfect world, called a utopia, but in books and movies utopias end up being dystopias. They make a perfect world sound so horrid or scary. So wanting a perfect world does not exist, to me, and so if someone asks me why and how I would change the world, I know not to say I would make it perfect or we might end up in The Hunger Games. But a good thing I was only asked what is one thing I would change about the world, why and how would I do it? Well where do I start? Hunger? War? Disease? Where do I start? The one thing I would change in this world, if given the chance to, is to take away all disease and cancer. Diseases have killed more people than war has and that is a scary thought. Disease is scary and if disease doesn’t exist the world would be different, it would be better.

How would taking diseases away from the world change the world? Everyone says that people need to die or the population will, well, overpopulate and I understand that overpopulating the world is bad but making people suffer through diseases is even worse. To me it is and to take away one of the most terrifying things from this world would be a sight to see. Imagine how many people suffer with diseases a year, 610,000 people and imagine that taken away. That’s only heart diseases, that does not count the people with cancer or other diseases. I know so many people who get cancer and it is not only hard on them but the people around them. How to take all the diseases away would be impossible but not all diseases need medicine or a cure? I would encourage people to stay away from things that causes cancer or diseases. Like smoking, for example, if people really try and avoid or stop smoking, they’ll avoid all the cancer that smoking gives people.

It is not that easy to make everyone stop smoking but if I could get everybody to and cancer caused by smoking will be stopped or less people will get sick. Maybe cleaning up our earth a little more will help and if people took care of themselves? Germs causes diseases but also inhaling cleaning products causes cancer. So if a lot of people clean their house or themselves naturally, maybe that will help? Also getting vaccinations and required treatments, medicines to avoid diseases will help too. Back in the 1900s, 1800s, and even before then people struggled majorly with diseases, there were major plagues because back then people were not as sanitary as we are today. Also we did not have the kind of medicines and vaccinations like we do today, it was different. I don’t think people realize what little changes would change? And I believe that if people did these little changes and it will be encouraged more, diseases would disappear, less people will get cancer. And that is my hope if I were to change the world.

Changing the world would be great but dreams only last for a night and hopefully one day the world will actually change for real. My one wish would have all the diseases disappear, we can only prevent them in the best way that is humanly possible. We just have to take care of ourselves and take care of each other, that is what the world needs. It could possible change then? I hope so at least, I would love to change the world in many different ways, hunger, war, and diseases, there are many other different things probably far worse than that, that other people might want to change about the world. But I, I just want to take all the diseases away, I am tired of watching people suffer and nothing scares me more than getting sick and dying. If I could change one thing about the world, why and how would I do it? Well I would do it to the best of my ability and take care of everyone who suffers on this imperfect world.
