Do I have a sexual harassment case?
There are generally two kinds of sexual harassment; “quid pro quo” harassment, which is the request for sexual favors in return for a job or a job advancement, and then what’s known as “hostile environment” harassment, which is simply unwanted comments, jokes, and conduct that makes it difficult for the employee to perform their job.
In either type of sexual harassment, it’s important first of all to tell the harasser that you want the conduct to stop, and it’s also important then to report that harassment to your supervisor, or to a higher level authority. Check your employer’s sexual harassment policy to see who you should report the conduct to.
If that doesn’t stop the harassment, then you should certainly contact an employment lawyer who can help guide you through the situation.
